Why has a ring with a diamond the size of a monkey's eye suddenly disappeared? Will it be found before the wedding party turns into an angry mob? Most importantly, can somebody get Joe Sherlock out of the bath in time?

Armed with only a box of Barf Blockers, a clip-on tie, and his extraordinary sleuthing skills, Joe Sherlock is in a race against time—and a very sensitive stomach. Baskerville's only kid detective will have his brain squeezed in the pressure cooker of his neighbor's mixed-up wedding day. Joe Sherlock is ready for the challenge...as long as nobody offers him an egg salad sandwich.

Berman handily pulls off a difficult feat—sounding youthful and not too affected—as the voice of a fourth-grade detective. Joe Sherlock, a timid kid with a nose (but often not the stomach) for mysteries, has a fond respect for his namesake, Sherlock Holmes. With a blend of mild suspense, universal kid dynamics and a good dose of potty humor, Keane concocts a recipe likely to hook mystery lovers and the Captain Underpants
crowd. His pesky but knowledgeable little sister (along with her Girl Chat sleepover backpack and walkie-talkie) assist Sherlock as he works his way through three neighborhood cases—on Baker Street, of course—in this introductory collection: Case #1: The Haunted Toolshed
; Case #2: The Neighborhood Stink
and Case #3: The Missing Monkey-Eye Diamond
. Listeners will likely have a good laugh trailing clues with Berman's interpretation of this affable, sometimes silly sleuth. Ages 7-10.

Meet Joe Sherlock: a nine-year-old detective whose first case ([cf2]Toolshed[cf1]) involves a missing glass eye, disappearing bundt cakes, and a farting grandma. In [cf2]Stink[cf1] Sherlock's after a "mystery doo-doo dog" that's despoiling his neighbor's yard; [cf2]Diamond[cf1] finds the P.I. in hot pursuit of a lost heirloom. The books try too hard to be laugh-out-loud funny, but fans of poo-poo jokes won't mind.
